The Canticle of the Sun
The Psalm of St. Francis
Praise be to Thee above, Most High, for all thy creatures,
Especially for Brother Sun who brings us the day and shed his light on us;
Lovely is he, and radiant with great splendor,
And he speaks to us of Thee, O most High.
Praise be to Thee, my Lord, for Sister Moon and the Stars
Whom Thou hast set in the heavens, bright, precious and fair
Praise be to Thee, my Lord, for Brother Wind,
For air and cloud, for calm and all weather
By which Thou sustaineth life in all thy creatures
Praise be to Thee for Sister Water,
Who is useful and humble, precious and pure
Praise be to Thee, my Lord, for Brother Fire,
By whom Thou lightest the night;
He is fair and merry, mighty and strong
Praise be to Thee, my Lord, for our Sister Mother Earth
Who sustains and governs us
And brings forth varied fruits, bright flowers and plants
Praise and bless my Lord, and thank and serve Him with great humility.
